Virginia Ruth Johnson

Virginia Ruth Johnson, fondly known as Ruth to some and Mammaw to family, passed away on March 22, 2024, surrounded by her family in Virden, IL. She was born on September 20, 1928, in New Haven, IL to the late Harmon & Bessie Acord. She married her loving husband John C. Johnson in March 1947.  Ruth was a faithful member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Eldorado, IL.Ruth owned and operated a beauty salon in Omaha, IL for over 40 years. Her hobbies were playing the wheel of fortune with her sisters and doing word search puzzles.She is survived by her loving daughter Paula Mitchell; grandchildren John Mitchell, Eric (Gina Hale) Johnson, Travis (Angel) Johnson, and Chris Mitchell; great-grandchildren Reagan Johnson, Calvin Mitchell. Sammy Mitchell, Sydney Johnson. Halle Johnson, Briley Johnson. Bobby Johnson and Max Mitchell.Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Harmon and Bessie Acord, husband John  C. Johnson, one son George Robert "Bob" Johnson, daughter-in-law Rebecca "Becky" Jo Johnson and siblings Fleda Coleman, Joe Acord, Annabelle Roark, Nadine Mills, Lilly Adams, Ruby Poshard, and Reba Cochran.Visitation for Ruth will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Cox & Son Funeral Home, New Haven, IL from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM. Her funeral service will immediately follow at Noon. Internment will follow the service at Union Ridge Cemetery
