It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia June Killing, who left us on April 23, 2023, at the age of 97. Virginia was born on July 17, 1925, in Troy, Michigan to Richard and Jennie Welch. She was a lifelong resident of Troy and was loved and respected by her community.
Virginia was a devout member of the Big Beaver United Methodist Church for many years, where she served as the oldest member of the congregation. She was a dedicated volunteer for the church's bereavement luncheons, and her kind and caring nature was always appreciated by those who attended. Additionally, Virginia volunteered for many years at the City of Troy Polling Centers.
In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed reading, bowling, and swimming. She loved spending time at her family's cottage in Caseville, MI, where she could relax and unwind. Virginia had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and friends and always cherished the time she spent with them.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to her community will live on through the memories and stories shared by those whose lives she touched.
Beloved wife of the late Reginald for 52 years. Loving mother to Terry Killing (Kathy) and the late Ronald "Doc" Killing. Cherished grandmother of Zachary Killing (Natalie) and Keri Schroder (Kevin). Great grandmother of Nathan, Colin, Joshua, Seth, Lily, and Jared. Preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
Family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 2-8PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Price Chapel), 3725 Rochester Rd. (btwn Big Beaver & Wattles), Troy, (248) 689-0700.
Funeral Service Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:30AM at Big Beaver United Methodist Church, 3753 John R Rd., Troy. Visitation at church begins at 10:30AM.
Interment at Christian Memorial Gardens West, Rochester Hills.
Memorial tributes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Disabled American Veterans.
