LeRoy Durnell Obituary
LeRoy Durnell, age 89, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born on January 29, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to Lawrence and Catherine (née Shidiskis) Durnell.
LeRoy was the proud owner of Lee's Plumbing Inc. in Troy, where his hard work, integrity, and craftsmanship earned the respect of countless customers and colleagues over the years. A U.S. Army veteran, LeRoy served his country with honor before dedicating his life to his family and community.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Maryanne (née Forest) Durnell, and their children: Joe Durnell, Barb Bargy (Pat), Jim Durnell (Evelyn), Janice Hertzfeldt (Paul), Linda Durnell, John Durnell (Lisa), Michael Durnell (Stacey), and his surrogate child, Mark Roeder (Nancy). He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Milan, Mackenzie, Patrick, Jeremy, Sean, Rick, Lou, Anthony, Megan, Catherine, Evan, Emily, Nicolas, and Cameron.
LeRoy is also survived by his sister-in-law, Norma Durnell, and will be fondly remembered by many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Durnell, and dear surrogate family member Carlton Abbott.
LeRoy's passions in life included golf, bowling, and spending time at the casino-always with a smile and a good story to share. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 3-8PM with a 7PM Rosary at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Price Chapel), 3725 Rochester Road (between Big Beaver & Wattles), Troy, (248) 689-0700.
Funeral Mass Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 10AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 4571 John R Road, Troy. Visitation at church begins at 9:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Manna Community Meals or St. Vincent de Paul, causes close to LeRoy's heart.
LeRoy lived a full life built on love, laughter, and service-leaving behind a legacy that will continue to bless his family and friends for generations to come.
