Shuk Ching Leung

Shuk Ching Leung, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Born January 23, 1940, in Taishan, China, Shuk started Hainan University in 1960. This was where she would meet her future husband, the late Lap Hing Leung. Prior to graduation, Shuk moved to Hong Kong, where she worked as a seamstress. In 1963, Shuk would reunite with Lap once again. The two married in January 1967; they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage.

In 1971, Shuk and her family immigrated to the United States, where they worked to eventually become the proud owners of Kwong Tung Inn in Detroit. As the beloved restaurant matriarch, people continue to come to the restaurant to this day asking about her and how she's doing. She was the devoted mother of Gorman Leung and Sherman Leung, and the cherished sister of the late Wai Han Ng (Mei Rong Lin), Shuk Fong Ma (the late Wing Dun Ma), Yan Han Wu (Feng Zhu Zheng), and Shu Fen Wu (Sai Zuan Huang), and she was the doting aunt and chauffeur to 18 treasured nieces and nephews. Shuk was the daughter of the late Xin Qiang Li and the late Shang Min Ng.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 3725 Rochester Road, Troy, MI 48083. Shuk will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, 621 W Long Lake Road, Troy, MI 48098.
