Whether on the field or in the stands, Dave was known for his unwavering love for the game and his competitive spirit, which he carried with him throughout his life.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Martin's admiration for cars began at a young age. As a child he spent countless hours in his father's garage, learning about engines and tools, discovering the world of automobiles that would come to shape his future. It was this bond with his dad that ignited his lifelong passion for cars and the automotive industry. Dave graduated from Ferndale high school in 1961, where he took his love for cars and turned it into a career, working at Stark Hickey Ford and later at Oakland Dodge. He was known for his vast knowledge, dedication and hard work.
Dave's passions weren't confined to cars alone. He was also an avid outdoorsman with a deep love for shooting. He spent countless hours at the range and took great pride in passing on this hobby to his children and grandchildren, teaching them the importance of safety, love and respect for firearms. Whether it was teaching them how to shoot or simply loading shotgun shells, Dave's time spent with his family was always filled with patience, joy and lasting moments.
A loving husband, Dave was also a committed father. He was always present for his children, sharing his passions and teaching them the values of hard work, sportsmanship and family. He could often be found coaching his kids' baseball and football teams, offering guidance, encouragement and a steady hand, both on and off the field. His love for these games carried on through the generations, with his children and grandchildren following in his footsteps.
Dave is survived by his wife, Brenda Kenan; his children, David (Carrie), Donald (Jen), Crystal (Jim), Brandon (Karen), Kevin, Kimberly and Donna; his grandchildren, Kayla, Austen, Alexandra, Katie, Amanda, Alicia, Emily and Brandon.
