Maggie Chubb, a cherished beacon of love and warmth, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at the age of 92 in
Westland, Michigan. Born on July 9, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, Maggie's life was a testament to her enduring kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Maggie's journey began as the beloved daughter of Ernest and Anne Burns. She grew up in a bustling household with her brothers Jake, Bob, and Doug, all of whom preceded her in death, along with her treasured daughter, Debbie Schmeichel. Maggie's legacy continues through her devoted husband of 73 years, Rod Chubb, and their sons, Glenn (Maria) Chubb, Mike (Sue) Chubb, and her son-in-law, Bob Schmeichel. Her love and lessons live on in her grandchildren, Wayne, Kevin, Jason, Jennifer, David, and Matthew, as well as her great-grandchildren, Alex, Marcus, Parker, Leah, Brayden, Nate, Maggie, and Emma.
Maggie's academic achievements were accomplished in Ferndale, Michigan, where she graduated from high school before dedicating herself to a career in nursing. She honed her skills and compassion at Highland Park General Nursing School, which paved the way for her 20-year tenure at a doctor's office in Plymouth, Michigan. Maggie's dedication to care and community extended beyond her professional life as she later shared her warmth and hospitality at Sideways in Plymouth for another 20 years.
Maggie's interests were as rich and varied as her life was long. Her family was her world, and she expressed her love not just in words but in the countless parties she hosted, the delicious meals she prepared, and the traditions she upheld. Her famous chex mix, delectable puffs, and savory baked beans were just a few of the family favorites that will be deeply missed. An ardent admirer of Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart, Maggie also found joy in her hobbies, playing Bridge with her friends, and celebrating her favorite holiday, Christmas, with gusto.
A true fan of the University of Michigan sports, Maggie and Rod were known for hosting the best tailgate parties in their RV. Their love for travel and adventure took them to Arizona in their RV to escape the Michigan winters, where they continued to make memories. As long-time members of the Northern Lights Chapter of the FMCA, a recreational vehicle club, they shared their passion for the open road with like-minded adventurers.
Maggie's evenings were often spent with her favorite TV shows, 'Wheel of Fortune' and 'Jeopardy,' which brought her daily joy and entertainment. To describe Maggie as loving, kind, and gentle only scratches the surface of the profound impact she had on those around her. Her presence was a source of comfort and her demeanor a model of grace.
Maggie Chubb's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with dedication, generosity, and an unending capacity for love. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on through the many lives she touched.
