Virginia (Ginger) Kuzmickas died at Paul House & Health Care Center, Chicago, on April 23, 2025. She was born on July 28, 1930, in Waukegan, and attended St. Bartholomew School and Holy Child High School. Some of her greatest pleasures were the frequent get togethers with her Holy Child classmates, which continued for many decades, well into the 21st century. She had strong ties to Waukegan, and remained a member of St Bartholomew Church (now Holy Family Church, Most Blessed Trinity Parish) for as long as she was mobile.
Ginger was a woman ahead of her time. She left Waukegan in her early 20s and headed for the "big city" (Chicago), where she remained until her death. She loved Chicago and made good use of its many resources. She could frequently be found at Symphony Hall, the Civic Opera House, the Art Institute or at many of its other cultural treasures. She loved to walk, and made the daily trek back and forth from her Lincoln Park apartment to her job in the Loop. She was a forerunner to today's "career woman" and her career spanned many years and many companies in downtown Chicago, including several years as a personal assistant to Ann Landers.
Ginger was also a world traveler. She travelled to Europe, South America, Russia, Thailand, Paris and even the Antarctic.
Ginger wanted no fuss, no fanfare, no funeral. Burial will be private.
Ginger was the epitome of a feisty, independent woman. And that's how she will be remembered.
