Virginia “Tootsie” Johnson McCormick age 95 of Rocky Mount passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born on August 9, 1928 a daughter of the late James Houston and Nobie Robertson Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Oscar McCormick; son, Randall McCormick; brothers, George Taylor “Slim” Johnson and James McArthur “Dar” Johnson; sister, Helen Knott; and a special niece, Lisa Buckner Forbes.
She is survived by a very special sister and best friend, Barbara J. Buckner; sisters, Emily J. Forbes, Carolyn J. Forbes (Larry), and Sue Johnson; special nieces, Lori Toler (Michael) and Robin Galyean (Andy); great-nieces, Lesley Wright (Walter), Raven Scott (Patrick), and Kaylee Johnson (Cody Craig); special great-nephews, Logan Cook (Irina) and Ryan Forbes (Holly). Tootsie is also survived by other nieces, nephews, other family, and friends including her friends at Rocky Mount Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2024 with Jamie Forbes officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 Noon.
Flowers will be accepted however the family is respectfully requesting that food be omitted.
