Virginia McFarland Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 26, 2025.
Virginia "Ginger" Belle McFarland (Chandler/Lucero) passed away peacefully at home in Quartzsite, Arizona, on January 25, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Ginger was born to Elaine and Richard Chandler in Boulder City, Nevada, on February 25, 1945. Her family later moved to Parker, Arizona, where she attended Parker High School. During her time in Parker, she grew up enjoying the Colorado River by waterskiing to high school and racing her mom's '57 Chevy. She loved animals, especially horses, and grew up actively participating in 4H.

She met her first husband, Abraham "Abe" Lucero (1938-1983) in Parker, and they later moved to Indio, CA. After unexpectedly becoming a widow in 1983, she did an admirable job raising her two teenage daughters, Robin (Lucero) Nava and Pam (Lucero) Black. In 1983, she met Sidney "Sid" McFarland, and they were married for 40 years.

After spending many years in Indio, CA, Ginger and her husband, Sid, moved to Quartzsite, AZ, where she lived for over 30 years. During their time there, they greatly enjoyed spending time with their family, offroading, and exploring the U.S. in their RV. They also spent many years as camp hosts in Colorado and in Northern Arizona. She is described by those who loved her dearly as loving, thoughtful, feisty, outspoken, and adventurous.

Ginger is survived by her husband, Sid McFarland of Quartzsite, AZ; her siblings, Pat Haddox of Quartzsite, AZ and Mike Chandler of Las Vegas, NV; her children Robin (Lucero) Nava (Gus Nava) of Indio, CA/Quartzsite, AZ and Pam (Lucero) Black (Owen Black) of Wickenburg, AZ. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly and who loved her dearly. A Celebration of Life for Ginger will be held at a later date in Quartzsite, AZ.
