Virginia Ayers Rewis, 77, widow of Charles Thomas Rewis, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her home.
Born December 27, 1947, at the Spruce Pine Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC, she was a daughter of the late John Wesly Ayers and Ethel Lee Randolph Ayers.
Mrs. Rewis attended Claremont Elementary and Cane River High Schools in Yancey County, NC. She worked for 46 years at the same plant in Sumter, known as Campbell Soup, Gold Kist and Pilgrim's Pride on Highway 15 South. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are her two sons, Delmas E. McLeod and Edward W. Rewis (Tonya) of Sumter; two step-daughters, Robin Renay Garrett of Savannah, GA and Dana Cheri Huten (Arnaud) of Nantes, France; four grandchildren, Daniel, Kennedy, Madison, and Reagan Rewis; a sister, Sarah Jane Gurley of Burnsville, NC; a brother, Kyle David Ayers (Brenda) of Green Mountain, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 4 P.M. Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 100 Lynam Road, Sumter with Brother Prince Felder officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 36 Edgewater Drive.
Memorial service will also be available via zoom meeting 859-0353-6911 passcode 922038
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
