Virginia "Ginger" Ferdon-Shallow passed on July 28, 2022. Ginger was born to Mary Eileen (Lusardi) and Erwin "Spike" Ferdon on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948 in Oconto. Ginger graduated from Marinette High in 1967 and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin.
On June 7, 1969, she married Tom Shallow. Ginger and Tom moved to their cabin in Porterfield after living in Neenah for 46 years, raising their family there and retiring from Primary Care Associates of Appleton. Together they raised two wonderful children and enjoyed traveling, camping, golf, skiing and spending winters in Orange Beach, AL.
Her husband Tom, daughter Dr. Melissa (Rory) Nergard and son Jeremy, and granddaughters Erika and Lorien Nergard survive Ginger. Also, sister Jennifer (Russ) Seguin and brothers Randy (Barb), Jeff (Cindy), Pat (Rachel), Archie (Deb), and sister-in-law Debbie (Harold) Ferdon. Also, a brother-in-law Pat (Joanne) Shallow and sisters-in-law Tammy Bernard and Debbie (Tim) Boyle along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Spike, mother Eileen, and brother Harold. Hansen and Onion funeral home is assisting the family with cremation.
You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. You never stop learning.
The family invites Ginger's friends and family to join them in a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 13th (please note date) at 11:00 am, at the Porterfield Lutheran Church.
Ginger's Poem
Love is one of the more odder things
Crusted steel on gossamer wings
A softness that must entice and lure
A toughness that must withstand and endure
It takes two to make love's flame burn
Both willing to teach and willing to learn
Too many lovers find they must part
Because they listen with their ears and not with their heart
They must take the time to walk through the flowers
The tender moments that turn minutes to hours
To cherish the warmth of a fond embrace
To know that moments apart you cannot replace
Ours is the stuff dreams are made of
Trust and faith, and undying love
Gossamer wings and crusted steel
The proof of time that our love is real
