Virginia Lee Sizer

Virginia Lee Greenly Sizer, 86, of Ogallala, Nebraska died December 12th at the hospital in Ogallala.
Virginia Lee Greenly was born in Torrington, Wyoming on December 2, 1938 to Anna (Roten) and Horace "Bunk" Greenly. She was the fourth of six children. She grew up on a farm near Bridgeport, NE, in view of Courthouse and Jail Rock. Virginia attended schools in Bridgeport and later graduated from University of Nebraska Lincoln with a degree in Home Economics in 1962. She married Wilbert Sizer in 1964. Virginia and Wilbert lived at Calora, the family ranch, in Arthur County. They raised three children, Ellie, Evanna, and Greg. Virginia later lived in Arthur and Ogallala.
During her lifetime Virginia worked as a home extension agent in Rushville, NE, on the ranch, and the Sizer Tree Farm. Virginia was active in many community organizations. She directed a co-op preschool, led 4-H clubs, did 4-H judging at county fairs, served on the Arthur Bicentennial Committee, and helped found the Wolf Den Market. She served on the boards of Sandhills RC&D and Western Nebraska Lupus Association. Virginia actively served children in the local area as a CASA volunteer, up until her death. Virginia attended Arthur Baptist Church and, most recently, Grace Point Baptist Church.
Virginia is survived by her brother, Richard (Karen) Greenly, children, Ellie Sizer, Evanna (David) Hardin, Greg (Carmen) Sizer, granddaughters, Ericka (Nathan) Welch, and Tobi Hardin, grandsons, Gideon, Micah, Issac, and Ezekiel Sizer. Sisters-in-law Susan (Doug) Wilson, Marjorie (Dale) Liestritz, Kathy (Henry) Vedder, brothers-in-law, David Sizer, John (Linda) Sizer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Sizer, parents, Anna and Bunk Greenly, sisters, Nadia Wimmer, Norma Greenly, and Beth Dowson, brother, David Greenly, sisters-in law, Mary Greenly and Karen Sizer, brothers-in-law, Charles Wimmer, Harold Sizer, and Jim Sizer.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21, at 11:00 A.M., at Grace Point Baptist Church in Ogallala, with Pastor Curtis Tschetter officiating.
A memorial has been established to Trails West Casa or Mission Heart.
