My beloved Mother, Virginia Taylor, passed away peacefully on August 25th from a sudden illness. She was 77 years old and was surrounded by her family when she went to meet her Savior.
Virginia was born to the late Jeter and Pauline Woody on January 8, 1945, in Roxboro, North Carolina. After graduating from high school, she had her daughter, Jennifer. With strength and courage, she raised her as a single parent until she met her late husband, Bob Taylor.
Virginia, Bob and Jennifer moved to Wilson, North Carolina in 1977. They were very involved in their church and dedicated their life to the ministry. Virginia enjoyed a long career in accounting, working many years with General Telephone, Wallace Computers and BB&T.
She got great pleasure by helping those in need. She spent most of her life donating blood to The American Red Cross as she had the universal blood type, O negative. She loved gardening and took great pride in her blueberry bushes and scuppernong grapes which she loved sharing with friends and family. She also enjoyed baking her famous apricot pies to share with friends. She loved Elvis and was very proud to share the same birthdate as him. Her favorite hobby was journaling, which she started when she was in middle school. I will always treasure having these handwritten notes and the timeline of her life. Thank you, Mom, for this precious gift.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her parents, Jeter and Pauline; and her brother, Tommy. She leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer (Brooks); stepdaughters, Laveada (Roger) and Anita (Rich); her grandchildren, Austin, Colby, Brooke, Roger Jr., and Hannah; her sister, Anne; nieces, Beth, Tammy and Donna.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00-3:45 p.m. Rev. Jack Stone will officiate.
