Virginia Ann Thornton, age 82, of Redgranite, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at her home.

She was born January 11, 1943 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Dolezal) Schrader. She married Robert Wilson Thornton on June 30, 1962. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2022.

Virginia was employed as a CNA at Juliette Manor in Berlin for a number of years. She also transcribed medical records at Sunnyview Health Center in Oshkosh and at Omro Care Center. She worked at the family business Elmer’s Place in Redgranite for many years. Virginia loved the going to the family cottage on Deerskin Lake in Eagle River. She also loved to get together and go out to eat with her cousins, Eddie and Judy Dolezal, along with Maryann, Judy and Jack. Virginia will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Henson, Redgranite, Nancy Thornton, Redgranite; three grandchildren: Kayleigh Henson, Ian (Kim Klapper) Henson and Kiera Henson (William Billquist); two great grandchildren: Isadora and Lucian; her sister-in-law, Jeanette D. Schrader, Redgranite. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Karl E. Schrader.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Foster Road Cemetery, 700 Foster Road, Redgranite, WI 54970
