Virginia "Joann" Volkmar, 77, of Salida CO died peacefully May 5, 2024, surrounded by her family at Columbine Manor in Salida after a battle with end stage COPD.
Joann was born on August 17, 1946, in Salida CO to Della (Martinez) and Moses Archuletta. She was the youngest of five children. She grew up in Salida, where she raised her three children. She had a strong faith in God and was raised in the Catholic Church.
Joann was a homemaker, babysitter to her grandkids and neighborhood kids. She was also caregiver to her elderly parents until their passing. She enjoyed Cooking, Music and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her children Roberta (Mike) Kevilus, Frank (Shelley) Archuletta and Victoria Asberry. She is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel (Shawn) Tanner, John Tanner, Ashley (Taylor) Archuletta, Kalob Archuletta, Kylee Archuletta and Kiara Asberry and Great granddaughter Zoey Allen. Other survivors include her siblings Margaret Gonzales and Mary-Lou Ordaz and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bobby (Inez) Archuletta, sister Frances (Joe) Cabral, Nephews Johnny and Randy Manzanares
Services will be held August 3rd, 2024, 11am @ Fairview Cemetery
