Virginia Wafford Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bowser Family Funeral Home - Broken Bow on Mar. 30, 2026.
Virginia Faye Wafford, age 79, of Idabel, Oklahoma, passed away, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. She was born Saturday, November 23, 1946, to Raymond Leon and Wyota Juanita Wheeler Gash in Brawley, California.

Virginia lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. A faithful member of Golden Baptist Church, she carried her love for the Lord into every part of her life. She deeply loved her family, and her grandchildren were a constant source of joy and pride. Virginia dedicated 21 years to education, teaching kindergarten and first grade in Tom, Forest Grove, and Primary South in Idabel, where she touched the lives of countless children with her patience and care. Outside the classroom, she found happiness in listening to gospel music, traveling with her family, sewing, and cooking. Her home was often filled with warmth and the sweet aroma of her homemade chocolate pie, a favorite that will be greatly missed. Virginia's life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, and devotion, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dawn Elaine; her husband, Jim Sicke; one son, Phillip Wafford and one brother-in-law, Bobby Nall.

Virginia is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew Wafford of Oak Hill, Oklahoma, Mark and Jessica Wafford of Fort Worth, Texas and Kelly VanArsdall of Pomaria, South Carolina; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and J.W. Bain of Sherman, Texas, Jeanette Hightower of Mineola, Texas; Barbara Nall of Oak Hill, Oklahoma, Georgia and Dennis Davidson of Winfield, Alabama and Glenda Olinger of Citrus Heights, California; five grandchildren, Krislyn, Jeana, Laney, Waylon and Josie; six great-grandchildren, Dakota, Fennec, Brantley, Tinsley, Ellie and Lyndon Faye; and one more on the way; several nieces and nephews and many other beloved family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at the Golden Baptist Church in Golden, Oklahoma with Brother Steve Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in the Watson Cemetery in Oak Hill, Oklahoma at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Golden Baptist Church, P.O. Box 126, Golden, Oklahoma 74737.
