Virginia Vincent Williams went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 23, 2025 at the age of 100. She was born in Clover, SC, on July 27, 1925 to Lewis C. Vincent and Margaret (Maggie) Doster Vincent. Virginia lived in Salisbury, NC during her youth, and graduated from Boyden High School in 1942.

On a bus ride to visit her Aunt Stella in Virginia during World War II, a chance meeting with a handsome young Navy serviceman from New Jersey began a love story for the ages. She married Joseph Michael Williams, Sr. (Joe) on January 21, 1947. They were the proud parents of Ron Kent Williams, Joseph Michael Williams, Jr. and Sabrina Williams Jackson.

After leaving the Navy, Joe got a job with Southern Railway, and the family moved from Salisbury, NC to Columbia, SC with their final stop in Asheville, NC. Virginia was a member of the Southern Railway ladies Club, for the wives of the Southern Railway Officers.

In their retirement, Virginia and Joe were avid antique collectors, particularly antique French and German dolls. She loved beautiful things, particularly flowers. Her yard was filled with colorful camelias, azaleas, spring flowering bulbs, and always pansies and dianthus in pots on the porch. But her very favorite flower was the gardenia. She loved decorating for Christmas. In later years, her Victorian themed Christmas tree stayed up year-round.

Virginia was a wonderful homemaker, seamstress and baker. She excelled at every task she ever attempted. She was a master quilter, and was a charter member of the Asheville Quilt Guild, winning many ribbons for her work. Her passion was making beautiful embroidered teddy bear baby quilts for her siblings, her children and grandchildren. Over the years, she made 62 miniature grief quilts that were donated to the Asheville Quilt Guild and given to parents whose little ones did not graduate from the nursery. Virginia was also a member of the Beaucatcher Quilt.Bee. Their Tuesday morning meetings, were the highlight of her week.

She was simply the best wife and mother. She always put the needs of the children before herself, and set an example of a being a Godly, Christian woman, with all three of her children accepting Jesus Christ as their savior, thus ensuring each will be with her in heaven. Virginia was a proud member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Until the very end, she had a sweet spirit about her, always smiling and saying "I love you," and "you are so beautiful."

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Micheal Williams, Sr., son Joseph Michael Williams, Jr., siblings Bill Vincent, Susie Wilburn, Conway Vincent, Rufus Vincent, and Great-grandson Will Gunning.

Surviving to cherish her memory are son, Ron Williams, daughter, Sabrina Jackson (John); grandchildren Gini Cagle (Richard), Lori Whitson (Joey), Merrily Leonard and Joseph Michael Williams Ill; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
