Virginia Lee (Lennard) Wolcott, affectionately known as "Sissy" or "Skeeter," 77, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Virginia was born on November 2, 1947, in Tampa, FL, to the late John Martin Lennard and Edith Clara Mills. She grew up in a loving, large family as one of nine siblings. Virginia married Steven Thomas McElwain on January 18, 1969, in Georgia, though the union ended in divorce. She later married Harvey Ellison Wolcott on June 11, 1972, in Riverview, FL. Both husbands preceded her in death. She dedicated much of her early years as a homemaker, raising her two daughters, Christiana Fries (John Fries) and Della Wolcott, with love and care. A graduate of East Bay High School in Riverview, FL, Virginia loved sewing and crafting, a passion that stayed with her throughout her life. Her skills brought joy to her family and community, and she worked in fabric stores in Tampa, FL, and Sacramento, CA. She also managed paper routes in several locations. Virginia lived in various places, including Riverview, Gibsonton, Tampa, Sacramento, Woodstock, GA, and finally Zephyrhills, FL, where she spent her later years. She absolutely loved being "Nana" and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia was funny and could be feisty, bringing smiles and laughter to those around her. Her love and devotion created countless beautiful memories for her family. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Christiana L. (Wolcott) Fries (John Fries) and Della M. Wolcott; six granddaughters, three grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Peggy J. (Lennard) Gower, Charles W. Lennard, and J. Houston Lennard. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from childhood. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Benjamin, Jack, Earl, and John William, sister Edith Muriel, grandparents John William Lennard, Joanna Retta Bryan, Benjamin Joseph Mills, and Clara Edith Savage, as well as several close relatives: Benjamin Edwin Lennard Jr., John Robert Lennard, and Michael Harold Lennard, and nieces Nina Ruth (Gower) and Cathy (Gower). Virginia's warmth, humor, and creativity will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade city, Florida. The committal service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
