Virine Hampton

 

 Her Journey

Virine Timmons was born on December 1, 1936, to Clifford and Mary Lee Timmons in Winona, Texas. As a child, she attended the Winona Independent School District and helped around the family’s farm with her 5 siblings. 

At age 18, she met and married the love of her life, James K. Hampton. The couple married on October 16, 1955, and moved to Dallas, Texas. The following year, the newlyweds began creating a family. Together, they were the proud parents of 3 children - James Douglas (1956), Mary James (1957), and Michael Kenneth Hampton (1958).

By 1960, the Hampton Family joined Greater Shiloh Baptist Church and Virine was baptized by Reverend Alvin White. The family then moved from South Dallas to the suburbs of Singing Hills. They made St. Stephens their church home, where Virine served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deaconess. However, once St. Stephens closed its doors, the couple chose St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church as their forever church family. Virine loved the pastor and congregation whom she served faithfully in numerous ministries.

Virine worked as a Dallas ISD School Crossing Guard, cook, volunteer, and homemaker over the course of her life. She found pleasure in attending church, baking, sewing, crafting, spending time with family, and giving to others.   

On Friday, June 30, 2023, God whispered to one of his children: “Well done my good and faithful servant” and this beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother gently entered Heaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mary Lee Timmons, siblings Marcellas Timmons and Ora Lene Johnson, daughter Mary James DeClouette, and son Micheal Kenneth Hampton.

Virine will be forever loved by her devoted husband, James K. Hampton. A marriage that lasted almost 70 years! She also leaves precious memories with her son; James Douglas (Ann) Hampton, one son-in-law; James DeClouette, grandchildren; Yaminah (Donta) Tucker, Joshua (Taushaun) DeClouette, Jeffrey (Tamyrha) Hampton, Jeremy (Aniqua) DeClouette, great-grandchildren; Samuel James Stewart, Joshlyn Mary DeClouette, Jolyn Mahrie DeClouette, Joshua James DeClouette Jr., Gio James Henry DeClouette, sisters; Dianne (Roland) Elliot and Nell (Earl) Moore along with a host of loving godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
