Vivian Antonakis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 24, 2025.
Vivian (Vasiliki) Antonakis, 98, of Caldwell, N.J., passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.
Born and raised in Sparta, Greece, she went on to work as a nurse in the Children's Hospital in Athens, Greece. Vivian immigrated to the United States with her husband Evangelos in 1962, first settling in Newark, later living in Irvington, and ultimately making their home in Caldwell. Vivian was a longtime and devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Clifton. She made it her priority to pass the Greek faith, language and culture on to her children and
grandchildren. Vivian took great joy in hosting holidays and family celebrations, bringing friends and loved ones together. An excellent cook, she shared her love through traditional meals made with care. In quieter moments, she found happiness in doing needlepoint, an artistry that reflected her patience, creativity, and attention to detail.
Predeceased by her parents, Efstathios and Efstathia (nee Kalavritinou) Georgatsos, her siblings and her beloved husband, Evangelos Antonakis, she is survived by her loving children, Angela Delaney and her husband, Michael, and Peter Antonakis; cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Viki Delaney; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 9-10 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m., both at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 818 Valley Road, Clifton. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Arrangements are under the direction of Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Vivian may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 818 Valley Rd., Clifton, N.J. 07013.
