Vivian Katherine Young Dawkins went to be with her lord on October 4, 2025. She was born on December 29, 1936, to the late Curtis Wright Young and Virginia Gertrude Smith Young in Franklin County. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Curtis Young, "Buddy". She is survived by her beloved husband, William I. Dawkins; and her beloved son, William Gregory "Greg" Dawkins; and her beloved sister, Brenda Ann Rogers (Jimmy); brother-in-law, Charles Dawkins (Betty); and sister-in-law, Mary Ann O'Brien. Also, surviving are many nephews and nieces, Jamie Young, Cathy Powell, Sharon Miller, Marian Young, Shirley Young, Michael Dawkins, Mary Helen Woods, David Dawkins, Jamie O'Brien, and Laurie Leslie O' Brien Collins. Also, cousins, Gayle A. Woods and Jane Evans. Vivian retired from the Kentucky Department of Library and Archives, where she served in many different capacities. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church on St. Clair St., where she loved working with her husband, Bill, who was the assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop #31, there at the church. She also worked as a volunteer for the church clothes closet, soup kitchen, and many years at the Franklin County Food Pantry, as well as other volunteer agencies. Arrangements are under the direction of LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home, and the service will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 12:00pm, noon. Visitation will be from 11:30am until the time of service on Thursday. The service will be officiated by Rev. Tom Troth, and Rev. Richard Summers. Serving as pallbearers will be David Dawkins, Mike Wood, Jamie Young, Gayle Woods, Larry Sowder, and Eddie Taylor. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the favorite charity of your choice.
