Vivian (Cox) Green, 99, was born on April 1, 1925, to Nicholas and Lillian (Dawson) Cox in Sallisaw, OK and entered Heaven's Gates on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in Muskogee, OK. She was a hard-working employee at Corning Glass for many years. She met and married the love of her life, Lloyd Truitt Green, in September of 1944. This marriage stood the test of time lasting 52 years, and brought them six children, four boys and two girls. Vivian took pride in taking care of her home, her husband, and her children. Vivian's hobbies and interests were plentiful. Some of them included spending time with her family by way of feeding them, morning, noon or night. Every belly was full at her house. She cooked often, making delicious fried taters, homemade fried cherry pies, cheesecake, her special soup, cucumbers and onions, and fried okra, just to name a few. She enjoyed crocheting in her rocking chair while watching The Price is Right, The Young and the Restless, and the Golden Girls routinely. She was a creature of habit, so every day, after her favorite shows and lunch were complete, she took what she called a ten minute "cat nap". She liked to can fresh fruits and vegetables, creating some of the most delicious pickles, salsa, jellies, jams, and preserves. She loved being outdoors on her front porch, swinging, chatting, and waving at everyone that drove by. She found joy in the small things, living a slow and simple life. Up until the last couple of years, having big, coiffed, curly hair was her signature look. No matter the circumstances, she made her way to the local beauty shop to gossip and maintain her hairdo with her friends in town. Vivian loved a good game of Dominos, Doctor Mario, and cards, and in the orneriest ways, she would beat almost everyone she played. More than anything, Vivian's number one passion was gathering her family together in the warmth and comfort of her home. She provided a soft place to land, a home base, a listening ear, a hearty meal, a comfy recliner, and all the things a loving home should have. Vivian leaves behind a legacy of devotion, care, and unconditional love. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Vivian is now reunited with her loving husband, Lloyd Truitt Green; her brothers, David Cox, Luther (Tobb) Cox, Cherry (Sunk) Cox, Sherman Cox, Charles (Butch) Cox, and an infant brother; her sisters, Maxine Lewis, Pansy McFarland, and baby Marion Jean Cox; her grandson, baby Jacob Green; her great-granddaughter, baby Macie Nail; her great-great-granddaughter, baby Edyn Johnson; her two daughters-in-law, Vickie Green and Lois Green; extended family and countless friends.
