Vivian Ann Herschel "Little Shield" she was named after her Great Great Grandmother, passed away July 1, 2025 due to natural caused at her home in Fort Belknap. The family will bring our beloved Vivian home Friday, July 4, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church at 7 pm. Services will be on Saturday July 5, 2025 at 10 am with burial at Harlem cemetery.
Vivian was born on September 26, 1949 to Ben "Edgar" Johnson and Bernice "Beany" Blackbird at Fort Belknap Agency. She married later on in live and had 7 children. Miss Vivian attended Harlem school for her primary and secondary education. She graduated from the school of hard knocks. She was not one to let grass grow under her feet. She traveled to many places through her travels she fell in love with Bilford Curley from Lame Deer MT and through this union one handsome son was born William Quisno. She went on to attend Job Corp in Chicago IL where her daughter Elizabeth "Bernice" Johnson was born. While she attended Job Corp she gained a lot of experience in many different trades. Miss Vivian was never without employment, she has traveled to Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Missouri, and Louisiana before returning back to Fort Belknap. While she lived in Kansas City Missouri she met Joe Wise and together they had three precious children Jason, Jolyn, and Jacob Wise. Joe was in the marine corp and discharged in 1976. Miss Vivian believed in love and in met Joe Bryant while she was living in Texas, She was blessed with a charismatic and caring personality; through her ability to love she met Wayne Herschel, Cecil "Dawg" and Luke Bushman. Miss Vivian was blessed with a smile that lit up any room. When Miss Vivian decided to return home to Fort Belknap, she spent a lot of time with her best friends Raymond and Mary Doney where they would go to Kennedys Bar to unwind for the day. She has lots of good memories with both. Laughter was their best medicine. One memory I'm sure we all have is her happy and friendly voice "good morn'n Finance how may I help y'all." She loved working in Finance with her friend Mary Adams and the crew. She was an excellent and dedicated worker.
Miss Vivian is survived by her children, sons: Jason Wise, Ardmore, OK, Jacob Wise, Oklahoma City, OK, William Quisno, Fort Belknap; adopted son Pat (Sarah) Ditmar; Dodson,; daughters, Jolyn Wise, Fort Belknap, Bernice "Elizabeth" Johnson, IL;, adopted nieces Carrie, Carol, and Cheryl Stiffarm, Fort Belknap. Brothers – Stanley (Joan) Johnson; Ival (Danelle) Jackson; adopted brother Gilbert (Nedra) Horn, Donald Horn, Curtis (Ramona) Horn, Charlie Horn, Dan (Lena) Horn Sr., adopted nephew Jeff (Jessica) Stiffarm, Beaver Creek, Sisters: Maxine Clifford, Willowa Horn, Margaret Horn Sampson. Adopted Sisters: Mary Adams and Barbara Longknife. Aunts Julia Doney and Arleta Hopkins. Uncle, John R. Strike. Granddaughters Danielle Walker and Haeli Guardipee, and Grandson Chaysen Walker.
Miss Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Ben "Edgar" Johnson; mother, Bernice "Beany" Blackbird; daughter Barbara Ann Guardipee; Brothers Douglas Johnson, Benny Johnson, and Raymond Doney; Sisters Abby Woodenleggs, Vikki Johnson, Mary Kay White, and Mary Doney. Aunts Peggy Ball, Angela Denny, Arlene Sandoval, Jean Campbell, Leona Small, Ethel Jackson, Betty Grandchamp, Patsy Dickson, Ruth Tucker. Uncles George Blackbird, Walter Blackbird, Willie Johnson, and baby boy Stanley Johnson. Paternal grandparents Manny, and George and Ella Blackbird and maternal grandparents Ben Johnson and Lucy Strike. Grandson Celeb Ditmar and her long time companions Wayne Herschel, Cecil "Dawg" and Luke Bushman.
Miss Vivian has huge family from Strike, Blackbird, Small, Denny, Horn, Speakthunder, Jackson of Fort Belknap and Johnson Gueidiani, And Has the Pipe from Butte, If we missed anyone it was not our intentions.
