Vivian Horne, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and devoted wife, passed peacefully on March 26, 2026, surrounded by those who cherished her deepest. Born on January 23, 1940, in Verda, Kentucky, Vivian’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, care, and family bonds.
From the very beginning, Vivian embraced her role as the heart of her family. She spent her life nurturing and caring for those around her. Her warmth was most evident during holiday gatherings, treasured times when she delighted in creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Vivian was not only a pillar of emotional support but also a remarkable cook, renowned for her extraordinary fudge—so delicious and unique that to this day, no one has quite managed to replicate its magic.
A woman of great spirit and gentle humor, Vivian carried her family through life’s challenges with wit and grace. Even as she faced the loss of her sight in later years, she never lost her loving encouragement, especially for the younger generations, whom she inspired to fall in love with reading—a passion that once filled her own life with joy.
Vivian’s family was her world. She is survived by her husband, Jack Horne, whose steadfast companionship was a source of strength and comfort. Her daughter Beth (Greg) Marshall continues her legacy, as do her siblings Walter (Nick) Holman and wife Angie and Elizabeth Suzanne Holman. The laughter and light she brought into the lives of her grandchildren—Joy(Travis)Forst, Jana(Ted)Beiersdorfer, Amanda Holland, Amber Holland, Andrew Holland, Tyler(Mariah)Bloom, and Devon(Maria) Bloom—remain an enduring gift. Alongside them stand great grandchildren; Brea (Nate)Fister, Bruce Clarkson, Cadence Holland, Grace Beiersdorfer, Marshall and Gibson Challis, and Kiara Bloom, as well as countless friends and family who found in Vivian a true friend and a source of inspiration.
She also rests in loving memory of her daughters Vickie Horne, and Jackie Horne, son Walter Preston Horne and grandson Jesse Alan Wylds, whose spirits remain forever close in the hearts of all who knew them.
Throughout her journey, Vivian’s unwavering dedication to family was honored as they, in turn, cared for her with the same profound love she had always shown. Her life was a beautiful chapter woven with care, laughter, and kindness—a chapter that now lives on in those she touched so deeply.
Vivian’s legacy of love and the warmth of her presence will continue to resonate through the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered as a beacon of love and compassion.
