Vivian S. Kosick

Vivian S. Kosick, 87, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Vivian was born on November 14, 1937 to her parents Earl and Dorothy (Polhemus) Gifford in Wall, NJ. Vivian moved from South Belmar to Manchester in 1999. She worked as a Home Health Aid for Family and Children Services, retiring in 2009. Vivian was recognized for her dedication and professionalism by Family and Children's Service and was awarded as the "1996 Home Health Aide of the Year". Vivian enjoyed music, arts and crafts, yoga, and going to the beach. She was a parishioner of Shore Christian Center Church and a member of its choir. Vivian also served in its clown ministry as "Polka Dotty" to help brighten the days for the elderly in nursing homes and hospitalized children. Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Gifford, her husband Wasil Kosick in 1979, her son Joel E. Kosick in 2004, her siblings, Ernest Gifford and his wife Harryette, Grace Burghardt and her husband Carl, Howard Gifford, Geraldine Rae Kosick and husband Stephen, and Robert Gifford, as well as her son in-law Mark Costigan. Vivian is survived by her daughters Mary Costigan and Ruthann Kosick, her daughter in-law Cynthia Kosick, her five grandchildren, Lisa Marie Costigan, Phillip Costigan and his wife Brianna, Christina Brummer and her husband Michael, Denise DiGiovanni, and Patrick DiGiovanni, her two great grandchildren Michael and Rebecca Brummer, her sister in-law Connie Gifford, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08759. A Funeral Service will take place at 12:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Alzheimer's Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer's Disease and the American Cancer Society.
