Vivian LaMar Obituary

She graduated from Ashland High School in 1939. She later graduated from Eastern Academy of Hair Dressing in Bangor, Maine on April 26, 1940. She worked in hair salons in Houlton, Caribou and many years at Jensen's Beauty Salon in Presque Isle. She also worked for one year at Presque Isle Air Force Base as a civil service clerk and book keeper, then went back to Jensen's Beauty Salon. She married Marion Francis LaMar from Baltimore, Maryland on November 18, 1946. She opened and operated a beauty shop in her own home for 15 years then worked at International Coiffures and the Hair Loft until retiring in 1994. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Presque Isle and a member of the Daughters of Isabella for 73 years.
Vivian Jeanette Prue LaMar was pre-deceased by her husband of 47 years on July 8, 1993, her son Timothy J. LaMar on November 21, 2017. She was also pre-deceased by her parents, eight brothers – Kenneth, Herman, Guy, Harold, Lewis, Elwood, John, Omer, one sister Lillian Prue Martin of Florida and one great grandson Hunnter LaMar.
She is survived by her son Stephen Francis LaMar and his wife Jane Kimball Bailey LaMar of Pennsylvania, their two daughters and two grandchildren, her son David John LaMar and his wife Karen Quintero LaMar of California, their three boys, two daughters and three grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Presque Isle 10AM, August 25, 2023. There will be a private burial following the memorial and a reception held in the Knights of Columbus Hall on 12 Chapman Rd., Presque Isle. All are encouraged to attend. In lieu of flowers Vivian's request was a donation be sent to Catholic Charities of Maine or Social Action.
