Vivian Glass Smith, 96 of Nathalie, VA passed away Wednesday, July 16 at her home.
She was the daughter of Lacy M. Glass and Marie C. Glass and was married for 57 years to the late William B. Smith, Jr., the love of her life. She retired from Burlington Industries and a retired tobacco farmer. She enjoyed the farm life and “topping” tobacco.
Vivian was a member Hunting Creek Baptist Church and ran the nursery for many years and took care of many children.
She was survived by her son William B. Smith, III and wife Cindi of Nathalie and two devoted granddaughters Katie S. Wilborn (Blake) of Roxboro, NC and Jill S. Wynn (Kenny) of Nathalie, VA. Vivian is also survived by sisters-in-law Betty Lou Conner (Roy) of Mint Springs, VA, and Doris Shockley of Lewes Delaware, and a host of nieces and nephews.
“Miss V” had her “family of angels” caretakers including Brenda Elder, Ruby Lott, Skip Holt, Madison Anderson, Sandi Smith and Phyllis Franklin.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, Jesse and L.M. Glass, four sisters-in-law, Nellie Glass, Bercie Glass, Wilma West and Lorraine Chapman. Her pet cat “Punkin” and dogs Pedro, Coleman and Lucky were waiting for her to join them in heaven.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean McGuire officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Bill and Cindi Smith, 2103 Brad Smith Tr., Nathalie.
