Vonda Kaye Nibbelink was born on December 31, 1968 to Wendale and Lavonne (Peters) Vander Broek in Slayton, Minnesota and was raised in Chandler, Minnesota. As an infant, she was baptized at Chandler Christian Reformed Church where she later professed her faith. Growing up, Vonda excelled in softball, basketball, volleyball and track. She also enjoyed family camping at Lake Shetek and waterskiing. She attended grade school at Chandler Christian School in Chandler and then Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton, Minnesota, graduating in 1987. Vonda furthered her education at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, where she completed her Associates Arts Degree in Secretarial Science in 1989. She then went to work at Norwest Bank in Sioux Falls. On September 14, 1990, Vonda was united in marriage to James Nibbelink at the Luverne Christian Reformed Church in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Luverne and was blessed with four children, Jeremy, Dominic, Luke and Jessa. Vonda worked at State Farm Insurance and then First Farmers & Merchants Bank. In 1999, she began working at Berkley Technology Systems. In January 2022, Vonda was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, which she courageously fought. On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Vonda passed away peacefully with family by her side at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 55 years, five months and four days.

Vonda was a member of the Luverne Christian Reformed Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and custodian. She had a big heart and found great joy in cooking, making many meals for her family and neighbors. She also enjoyed flower gardening, golfing, taking boat rides, driving her Jeep around and just being with her family. She loved going to all of her kids’ sporting events and watching them play, especially state basketball and softball. In October 2022, she was excited to become a grandma to her blessing, Blair. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Her faith was inspiring to many through her fight with cancer and her endearing spirit will forever be well in the hearts of many.

Vonda is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim; three children, Dominic (Brooke) Nibbelink of Sioux Falls, Luke Nibbelink and Jessa Nibbelink, both of Luverne; granddaughter, Blair Nibbelink; parents, Wendale and Lavonne Vander Broek of Chandler; three siblings, Curt (Dawn) Vander Broek of Alexandria, Minnesota, Beth (Curt) Van Dyke of Edgerton, and Debra (Richard) Johnson of Edgerton; mother-in-law, Marge Pap of Luverne; father-in-law, Willard Nibbelink of Peterson, Iowa; and other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy; sister-in-law, Janna Nibbelink; brother-in-law, Josh Nibbelink; and niece, Emma Nibbelink.
