Vonnie passed from this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Houston, Texas. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller Texas from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held for her at Lucas Funeral Home located at 1601 S. Main Street in Keller, Texas Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10 o'clock am, with a committal service to follow at Bourland Cemetery.
She was born in Callahan County, Texas on February 17, 1928 to Gray and Altie (Fisher) Foller. Serving the Lord until Death was Vonnie's goal in life. Next was enjoying her loving family. She had many friends at the Cy-Fair church of Christ in Houston.
Vonnie graduated from Baird High School, TWU, Denton and Texas A&M, Commerce, Texas. Her first teaching pleasure was Keller 4th grade for five years, then Greenville, and retired in Sulphur Springs. She stayed in touch with many of her students, especially from Keller, for the rest of her life. Keller students and adopted students presented Vonnie her first computer so they would never lose touch. This bonding brought many years of happiness to her life. Former 4th grade students are serving as her pallbearers.
Vonnie left many good friends in San Angelo, TX December 7, 2014 and moved to Houston to be near her son Jim, and wife Allyson Browning. Other loving survivors include sister, Bessie Weems, Springfield, MO, stepdaughter Beckye (Rutherford) and husband Laurence Estill, Liberty Hill, granddaughter Elizabeth and husband Travis Wise, Sugar Land, grandson Jonathan Estill, Liberty Hill, and granddaughter Emily and husband Peter Myers, Corpus Christi, Daniel and Breanna Mullins, Katy, and Amber Mullins, Charlotte, NC. Her pride and joy were her great grandchildren James, Peter, Vera, Priscilla, Annabelle, Everett and Isaac. She also leaves many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents, sister, two brothers, and two husbands: Jimmy Lawson Browning of Keller, and Wesley Rutherford of Putnam and San Angelo.
Remembrances may be made in Vonnie's memory to Bourland Cemetery Maintenance Fund, PO Box 2802, Keller, Texas 76244.
