Vora Lee Monk was born February 7, 1928, to Ellis and Easter (Donaldson) Monk in Pine Bluff, AR. She received her primary education in Jefferson County Arkansas. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church and served with dedication as an usher throughout her life.
She united in marriage to Robert Turner February 27, 1972, when she joined Oak Grove MBC. Later in life, she married William Sayles and joined Nt. Nebo MBC, where she remained a faithful member until her passing.
Vora, more affectionately known as "Aunt Sister" or simply "Sister", was a true nurturer, as evidenced by ALL the people who cherished her loving spirit and straight-forward nature. She was an avid gardener and loved to fish. She also enjoyed spending time watching soap operas and baseball.
On Tuesday June 17, 2025, she transitioned to rest, joining the ranks of loved ones gone before her – spouses: Robert Turner & William Sayles; her son: Ellis Monk Sr.; Daughter-in-law: Flora Monk; siblings: Anderson Mitchell, George, Johnny, Sylvester, Doris, Ora Lee, Matthew, Richard, and Roosevelt.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love: a granddaughter, Tamika (Antonio) Evans of Bastrop, LA; 2 grandsons Ellis Jr. (Sabrina) Monk Ft. Worth, TX and Wayne Monk Detroit, MI; 8 great-grandchildren: A'Donis, Lacy, Ellis, Demi, Leena, Toomy, Jeremy, and D' Angelo; 3 great-great grandchildren: Sevenn, Heaven, & De'Angelo (deuce) Jr.; 3 goddaughters: Cathy Taylor, Elaine Ridgell, and Reba (Michael) McIntosh; her beloved brother, Joe Louis Monk of Aniston, AL.; her favorite niece & companion, Betty Monk and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones.
