Maggie (Vyte Magdalena) Gydas, nee Numgaudas, 79, of Willowbrook, Illinois, peacefully died August 28, 2025 surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of the late John Gydas. Maggie is survived by her daughters Audra (Chuck) Blanchard and Monica (Rob) Young and her grandchildren TJ Blanchard and Liberty, Franklin, and Teddy Young and her sister, Zivile (late Alex) Silgalis. Maggie spent her last days amid loving family and close friends - a huge testament to the love we have all shared for our beloved Maggie.

Maggie was born in Traunstein, Germany while the family was in a displaced person camp. From a young age, she displayed an independence and strength of character which lasted her whole life. She graduated Woodrow Wilson Junior College and Jerry Gordon School of Beauty with many accolades. Maggie was a full partner in a beauty shop on southside of Chicago. John and Maggie owned The Sanctuary restaurant in Brookfield, Illinois. In 1978, they founded The Sanctuary Ski Club which is still active today. Maggie's last employment was at The Container Store for 20+ years. At her retirement, she was one of the most senior tenured employees for the Chicago market.

Maggie spent her retirement enjoying family and friends in the Chicago area and traveling to see her daughters and grandchildren in South Carolina, Florida and Georgia. May her memories be a blessing to us all.
