W. C. Davis's life journey began on September 26, 1937 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late John Henry Davis and the late Lillie Taylor Davis. "Butchie" as he was fondly called by family and friends graduated from Church Street School with the Class of 1956. After graduation he worked with R. J. Reynolds as a machine operator inspector with over 55 years of service prior to retirement.

As a leader, Butchie believed in putting on the full armor of God for spiritual strength which impacted his commitment to his family and church. As a faithful man, he answered as God led him to serve in several capacities at Union Baptist Church, First Assembly Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church.

On December 17, 1960 Butchie married the love of his life, the late Ruby Ross Davis. They were united on this earthy ream for 61 years, 7 months and 12 days. Three years later on August 5, 2025 at 10:50 am they were heavenly reconnected again; together forever. Butchie was a staple to the Ross' family.

During his leisure time he also enjoyed playing golf. But nothing was more important then studying the word of God. His spiritual belief allowed him to interact with everyone. He never met a stranger. He will be missed by his family, friends, church and community.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lillie Mae and John Davis, wife, Ruby R. Davis, two brothers, John Lee Davis and Earl Davis, two sisters, Lillie Mae Griffin and Sarah Hart, one sister-in-law, Rachel Ross.

Butchie is survived by a niece and nephew whom he raised as his own, Tora Ross of Charlotte, NC and Quinton (Linda) Ross of Salisbury, NC, two sisters, Helen (Albert) Skeen of Thomasville, NC, and Barbara Jean Davis of Mount Clemons, MI, a special niece and caretaker Priscilla (James) Burton of Thomasville, NC, a special cousin and caretaker, Priscilla Ross; special Pine Ridge residents, Billy Rogers, Jean Pittman, Deborah Melton and Aaron Jones, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, golf buddies
