Mr. W. Charles "Chuck" Kormelink

W. Charles "Chuck" Kormelink, 81, husband of the late Betty Lorraine Kormelink, of Fair Play, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at his home.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, and raised in Chicago, he and Betty raised their family in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. They fell in love with the South Carolina Upstate after a fishing trip to Lake Hartwell and relocated to the area in 1989. Mr. Kormelink was an active member of the community and owned several local businesses, including The Gazebo Restaurant, I-85 Fireworks, Jackpot Junction and Lake & Land Realty. He was a former South Carolina President of the Elks, and founding member of the Seneca chapter.
Mr. Kormelink survived by his daughters: Laura "Laury" K Gardner (Guy Victor) of Hartwell, GA, and Mindy Lee Rook (Christopher) of Aurora, IL; grandchildren: Riley Gardner Walker (Elias) of McDonough, GA, Jarrod Charles Rook of Romeoville, IL, Remington Katharine Rook of Batavia, IL, and Delaney Priscilla Rook of West Allis, WI; great-granddaughter: Jordyn Briggs Rook, and former son in law, Kevin Gardner of Hartwell, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.
The family would like to invite friends to a Celebration of Life after the service, until 6pm at The Hideaway, 121 Lakeshore Dr, Play, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Oconee County Sheriff's Foundation, Oconee County, SC.
The family is at their respective homes.
