Wade A. Lechner

Wade Anthony Lechner, 66, of Aberdeen, SD passed away June 28, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday July 14, 2023 at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Leola, SD with Father Mark Axtmann officiating. Burial will follow at OLPH Catholic Cemetery in Leola. Casual wear preferred. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Thursday July 13, followed by a wake service at 7 pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main St, Aberdeen, SD. Feel free to represent your favorite sports team apparel in honor of Wade.
Wade was born in Deadwood, SD to DeWayne and MaryLou Lechner on April 28, 1957. He graduated with the Class of 1975 from Leola High School. He was well respected and well-liked at Twin City Fan and had planned to retire in October.
Wade is preceded in death by his mother MaryLou, father DeWayne, brothers, Danny and Kimberly. Maternal grandparents Dan & Fern Kline, paternal grandparents Dan & Edna Lechner.
Wade is survived by his soul mate, Victoria Hayes and children Vinny (Andrea) Hayes, and Hillary (Andrew) Fiolka. His children, Elijah, Levon, Saven, Logen, and Courtlen. His siblings, Victoria Dykes, Sedan, KS; Valerie (Burt) Misslitz, Warner, SD; Randy (Donna) Lechner, Aberdeen, SD; Marsha (Kevin) Grattan, Sedgwick, KS; Candice (Ron) Kappes, Leola, SD; Brenda (Bernie) Rall, Forbes, ND; Todd (Julie) Lechner, Aberdeen, SD; Michelle (Jason) Roblewsky, Aberdeen, SD; Shon Mattly, Rancho Bernardo, CA; honorary brother Dan (Janet) Harrington; foreign exchange student siblings Richardo (Marge) Baron, Leana Karyna Marques, Jens Mueller, along with several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearer is Vinny Hayes Honorary Pallbearers are Randy Lechner, Todd Lechner, Shon Mattly, Dan Harrington, Earl Weisenburger and Bob Serfoss. He was an avid sports fan with many favorites! Most notably the MN Twins, Vikings, Boston Celtics, Duke, Boise State, and NSU Wolves, with drawers full of jerseys, shelves full of caps and a license plate that read BOYZ ST! He could be seen in the exact same bleacher spot at home NSU BB games. Wade had a happy disposition, a forgiving soul, and he loved unconditionally. He had a quick wit and a never-ending sense of humor, something that was not lost in the hardship of his last days. He faced his prognosis of metastasized pancreatic cancer with the kind of faith, bravery, selflessness and love that one could only hope to aspire to. When the time came, he was ready to go see his mom! The family of Wade wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Crewson, Dr. Larson, Dr. Conklin, Kathy with Palliative Care, his nurses and the rest of his medical team.
