Wade F. Miller

1946 - 2021

Wade F. Miller, 74, of Upper Pottsgrove Twp., PA, passed away on November 16, 2021, at Meadowood Senior Living in Worcester, PA. He was the husband of the late Shirley M. (Nikolich) Miller, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Greensburg, PA, on November 21, 1946, Wade was the son of the late Leon and Kate Miller. Wade was a diligent worker who started laboring in steel mills in western PA in 1965. Wade then made several career moves around the country to enhance his technical skills to support his growing family. He began his 38-year career at GE Hitachi in 1976, working as a Level III NDT Engineer with Nuclear Inspection Services. In 2013, Wade was inducted into the Nuclear Power Field Services Hall of Fame (inaugural class), where he received a standing ovation for his commitment to the industry. Although that was a proud moment for Wade, his real dream came true when he and his wife, Shirley, bought their mountain cabin in Clinton County, PA, in 1996. They made countless memories there with their family. Wade was known for his incredibly brilliant mind, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, watching all sports & Fox News, and his lifelong love of reading, music, and the outdoors including hunting and fishing. While Wade’s career and interests were important to him, his most cherished role was being Pap to his entire family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who will be deeply missed. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Steven (& Beth) Miller, Michele (& Bill) Allen, and Sherry Shirey (& Enrique “Lupe” Guadalupe); his son-in-law, Albert Sell; his sister, Karen Knight; and ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren on the way, and his dog, Buddy. In addition to his wife and parents, Wade is predeceased by his daughter, Kristina “Krissy” Miller. Viewings will take place on November 19, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464, and on November 20, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2941 Lutheran Rd., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. A funeral service will be held on November 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2941 Lutheran Rd., Gilbertsville, PA 19525.
