Nakina, NC

Wallace Ray Horne, age 67, of Nakina, NC, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 in his home. Born February 10, 1958 in Cumberland County, NC, he was the son of the late Buford Horne and Willie Mae Britt Horne.

He was a member of Palmyra Missionary Baptist Church. Wallace retired from the City of Fayetteville as a Landscape Supervisor. He was also a volunteer fireman with Pearce's Mill Fire Department in Fayetteville, NC.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ann Hood Horne; one son, Corey Horne of Nakina, NC; one daughter, Tiffany (Allen) Gore of Nakina, NC; two grandchildren, Ethan and Katie Gore; two sisters, Claudette (John) Walker of Birmingham, AL, and Phyllis (Melvin) Watson of Supply, NC; three brothers, Kenneth (the late Yvonne) Horne of Garner, NC, Robert (Cathie) Horne of Willow Spring, NC, and Jim Ours of Winston Salem, NC; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Evan Ray Gore and Wesley Grant Gore.

The family would like to especially thank Michelle Williams, Alexis Cribb, Candace Butler and Raquel Kermon for the care, compassion, and support during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Palmyra Missionary Baptist Church 12753 New Britton Hwy, Whiteville, NC 28472.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals, 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517. http://www.secufh.org/donate
