Elder Wallace McCormick was born on April 27th, 1956, to the late Allie Vee McCormick. He departed this earthly life at Huntsville Hospital on January 10, 2024. He accepted Christ at an early age at Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Tallassee Alabama. He later joined First Missionary Baptist Church. He subsequently became a deacon under the leadership of Pastor Earl Johnson at Christ Community Church. Thereafter he was ordained Elder under Pastor James Battle at Bethany P.B Church where he remained faithful until his death.
At Bethany P.B., he was a devoted member and served faithfully. He was a dedicated Sunday school teacher. He demonstrated his love for people through the Gift of Love ministry as well as volunteering monthly at the senior center.
He graduated from Tallassee High School in 1974 and later earned an associate degree from Trenholm Technical College, Montgomery Alabama. He was employed by the state of Alabama where he retired after 30 + years of service.
He was preceded in death by his mother Allie Vee McCormick and his brother Eddie Lee McCormick.
He leaves to cherish a loving wife, Shirley McCormick; two daughters: Shanita (Billy) Turner, Simone McCormick; four grandchildren: Jamesia, Devean, Aaliyah, and Zion; one great-granddaughter, Aniylah Vee; five sisters: Ocie Pearl Purter, Martha Matthews, Vanessa Lewis all of Tallassee, Alabama, Beverlyn (Gerald) Leonard of Huntsville and Arquetta Ricks, Alabama; two sisters-in-law: Melinda McCormick and Barbara Faye Dennis; one brother-in-law, Bobby Bush; one aunt, Willie Mae Skipper; two devoted friends, Deacon Walter Sales and Calvin Barrett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2024, at the Bethany Primitive Baptist Church (280 Beth Road, New Market, AL 35761) with Pastor James Battle officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Memorial Gardens. Elder McCormick will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2024, and 8:30 until 9:00 a.m., at the Royal Funeral Home.
