Wallace Scheiber Obituary

Watertown, WI - Wallace "Wally" Scheiber, age 88, of Watertown, Wisconsin, passed away on January 11, 2026.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI. Family and friends are invited to gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, WI on Friday, January 16, 2026 for visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia, WI following the service, with a luncheon to follow in the basement of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Born on June 29, 1937, Wally was a lifelong resident of Watertown, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and community. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In his younger years, he was an avid sportsman and bowler, known for his many stories and the joy he brought to those around him. Wally had a welcoming presence, a heartfelt smile, and was always quick with a joke that could brighten anyone's day.

Wally graduated from Watertown High School, Class of 1955, and served in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated many years working for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier, retiring after a long and fulfilling career.

Even after retirement, Wally continued to stay active and connected with the people he loved. He worked at Tom's/Breslow's for many years, enjoying the daily interactions and sense of purpose it provided. Wally also treasured time spent playing cards with friends at the Watertown Senior Center, where he built lasting friendships and was a familiar and well-loved face.

Wally was the heart of his family and was adored by many. His humor, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Wally's four daughters are the strong, successful women they are today because of his unwavering love, devotion, and steady support throughout their lives.

Wally also lived for his grandchildren, and he made sure each one always felt special. Whether he was cheering them on at school and sporting events, sending thoughtful "care packages" while they were away at college or serving in the military, never forgetting to send a birthday card, or sitting together watching the Packers games, he showed his love in ways that will never be forgotten.

Wally is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Michael) Duquaine, Tracy Smith, Jody Scheiber (Pete Dahlquist), and Casey Scheiber; his grandchildren, Brandon Stefan, Corrie (Kelly) Stefan, Alexandra (Jonathan) Wisth, Guinevere Duquaine, Christopher Smith, Jonathan (Isabelle) Smith, Alayna Smith, Ian (Crystal) Yoder, Kyle Strauss (Autumn Schindel), Nicole Strauss, Rachel Hau, Kayla Wegner, Damon Wegner, and Dylan Wegner; his great-grandchildren, Giavanna Stefan, Marcelo Esquivel, and Mateo Esquivel; his sister, Marlys Stueber; brother- and sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Wally was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; several of his brother- and sister-in-law; and other beloved family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
