Wallace "Wally" Short Jr.

Wallace "Wally" Short Jr., 64, of Atwell, WV, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Wally was born October 12, 1959 in Welch, WV a son of the late Wallace C. Short Sr. and Sarah E. Dawson Short. Wally loved his family, his home on the mountain and his dogs. Wally loved Christmas and the 4th of July; he loved Pop Eye the Sailor man, John Wick Movies and wrestling. Wally also enjoyed gardening, squirrel hunting and working out with weights.
In addition to his parents, Wallace and Sarah Short, Wally was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Gale Short and Darlene Short; one brother, Howard Evans Short; his mother, Mary Nadine Short and brother, Kenny Dale Short.
Survivors include three children, Crystal Naomi Hale and husband Kevin of Raysal, Wallace Booker Short of Iaeger and Mary Ann Myers and husband Trent of War; seven grandchildren, Cody Hale, Priscilla Short, Michael Short, Ethan Myers, Brayden Myers, Faith Myers, and Hope Myers; three brothers, Lewis and Dorothy Short of Atwell Mountain, Jimmy and Veronica Short of Bartley and Michael Sweeney of Atwell; and three sisters, Priscilla Short and Gary Earley of Bartley, Ruby and Rod Metzger of Indiana and Ruthie and Jeff Johnson of Bartley.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 1 o'clock, with Reverend Tommy Jenks officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in the Dawson Cemetery on Atwell Mountain near Atwell, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be Lewis Short, Jimmy Short, Kevin Hale, Booker Short, Trent Myers, Cody Hale, Ethan Myers and Michael Short.
Friends may visit with the family Monday evening, April 1, 2024 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the family.
