Wallace Travis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Inc. on Nov. 8, 2024.
Wallace "Wally" Lee Travis Jr., born January 17, 1944, of Dayton, TN passed away the morning of November 7, 2024.
Wally and his late wife, Gail, shared 58 years of marriage with three sons, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Together, they built a life and home where all felt welcomed, and Wally was never happier than when all his family was together in the living room, and he could greet another visitor with, "Hey, buddy!" Wally was a longtime coach of Dixie Youth Baseball and Dayton Falcon Peewee Football, also coaching all three of his sons in both sports. For many years, he enjoyed woodworking and creating beautiful pieces to gift his family and friends in Rhea County and beyond. He was an avid poker player, Braves baseball and Tennessee football fan. His love for Tennessee football was nearly outweighed by his hatred of Alabama football.
Wally was a longtime resident of Rhea County and member of Sale Creek First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gail Travis; parents, Wallace and Vi Travis; brothers Sam (Anna) and Jerry Travis; granddaughter, Angelica. He is survived by sons Greg, Ross, and Jeff Travis; daughter-in-laws, Sherree, Alice, and Melanie Travis; grandchildren, Magan (Dennis), Blake (Brittany), Mallory (Matt), Seth (MacKenzie), Ashley (Cam), Allie, and Ryann; great-grandchildren, Zachery, Kyler, Conner, Kennedy, Kymber, Raegan, and Hampton; sisters-in-law, Sandra Travis and Wanda Scott.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 6-8pm at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home. Following the next day, Saturday, November 9, 2024, a Funeral service at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home at 2pm, officiated by Michael Redden. Interment will be at Rhea Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sale Creek First Baptist Building Fund - PO Box 502, Sale Creek, TN 37373.
