Mr. Swaby was one of my favorite teachers at Eastern Greene High School (the other was his sister, Jan Borders). I did not really like biology much at all, but because I liked Mr. Swaby so much, I worked extra hard to try to make a decent grade in biology. I would study hard when I knew he was going to be administering a test. I remember one April Fools Day (I didn't think about it being April 1 at the time), we got into biology class and he immediately said we were going to have a pop quiz. I about freaked out because I hadn't known in advance to study! It turned out to be a practical joke type of quiz and all was well. Mr. Swaby and Connie came to most all of our 1971 Eastern High School class reunions (when teachers were invited to join us). He will be sorely missed and memories of him treasured for years to come.
