Walter Barrow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Funeral Service and Chapel, Inc. - Springfield on Aug. 2, 2023.
It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Barrow announce he gained his wings July 26th, 2023.
This is an obituary for a wise man, born on November 6, 1949, in Arkansas, the son of the late Beatrice and King Barrow.
He leaves behind a family of many which he was very proud of. Walter was world-renowned for his stern look, not holding
back his opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. He always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.
It was the school of hard knocks and yes we were told manytimes in life not to be a ding bat. With that said he was genuine
to a fault, a gentle giant at heart and yet he sugar coated nothing.
His extensive education was more than most people learned in a lifetime.
The words of encouragement, wisdom, and sometimes comfort, kept us in line, taught us the "school of hard knocks" and gave
us something to pass down to our children. Everyone always knew where you stood with him. He liked you or he didn't, it was black or white. He loved to go fishing and watching black and white cowboy movies. He had an exquisite sense of style and love to have a good time.
He will be sorely missed and survived by his partner Karen Porter, children: Schnette, Monique and Yvette. His grandchildren Breanna, Marcus, Giovonni, Sonya, Bianca, Bella, Bonita, Yahshua, and Demond and numerous extended
family and friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his mother, father and 2 sisters Ernestine Word and Ora Lee Parham.
All whom loved him dearly and will never forget his tenacity, wit, charm, grace (when pertinent) and undying love and caring
for them.
