Walter Leon "Buzzy" Black was born December 20,1938 in Hughes Springs, Texas to Walter and Mittie Black. He passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Texas on September 14, 2025.

Leon was a graduate of Hughes Springs High School, Class of 1957. After high school he joined the United States Army where he served as part of the Military Police. He was a self-employed gas and oil distributor for Lion Oil Company for 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walter E. "Bud" Black and Mittie Faye Black of Hughes Springs; and brothers, Keith Black and Terry Black.

He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Hicks (Clennis) of Lone Star and Deva Kersey (Robert) of Daingerfield; sons, Chris Black (Jennifer) of Atlanta, Texas and Brian Black of Bossier City, Louisiana; grandchildren, Sydney Harp (Aaron) and Drake Black; and great-grandchildren, Joseph and Hudson Harp.

Services for Mr. Black will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18th at Harris Capel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
