Mr. Walter Van Cala, Jr., 74, husband of Mrs. Martha Ann Hall Van Cala, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025, beginning at noon at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC 29829, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 o'clock in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dexter Lambert. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, South Carolina. Pallbearers will be Cody Van Cala, Mitch McBride, Chris Rutland, Brayden Rutland, Eric Rodriguez, and Chris Rolfs.
Left to cherish Mr. Walter's memory, along with his wife, are his sons, David Simmons (Sherri) and Walter Van Cala, III (Jennifer Johnson), North Augusta, SC; sisters, Cheryl DaMota (Joe), of Orlando, Florida, Catherine Rego (the late Amos), Fall River, Massachusetts, and Denise Van Cala of Tiverton, Rhode Island: grandchildren, Brandy Rutland (Chris), Rick Jackson (Monnie), Deanna Liner (Paul), and Cody Van Cala; great-grandchildren, Jackson Rutland, Brayden Rutland, Ryder Rutland, Dylan Jackson, and Callie Jackson and his puppy, Bit-Bit.
Mr. Van Cala was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, to the late Walter Van Cala, Sr., and Marie Fischer. He retired from the Savannah River Site with thirty years of service. He was a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed playing in his pool and was a talented model ship artist.
