Walter Glenn Cross, 77, of Danielsville, Georgia, passed away on January 23, 2026. He was born on December 3, 1948, in Hartford, Alabama.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Shirley Cross and Ruby Brooks Cross; his sister, Nancy Cross Pridgen (Jimmy); his brother-in-law, Rodney Odom; and his beloved granddaughter, Charleston Ruby Cross.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Joan Cross; his four children, Cody Cross (Jackie), Susan Cross, Len Cross Black (Brandon), and Katie Cross (Donald); his sister, Jane Cross Odom; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and an abundance of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Glenn moved to Madison County in 1972, where he built a life of service, leadership, and deep community involvement. He proudly served in the United States Army with the 808th Combat Engineers, further served with the Georgia National Guard, and later retired after years of dedicated service. A respected leader, Glenn was a proud Past Master of the John H. Jones Masonic Lodge #348 and served as Mayor of Danielsville from 1997 to 2009.

Glenn loved to hunt, fish, and—most of all—spend time with his family. He had a larger-than-life personality and a gift for bringing joy wherever he went. He always knew how to light up a room, never missed a chance to tell a joke, and was known for his favorite sayings, including, “Well I’ll be a suck-egg mule,” and his signature loud greeting of, “Fine, you?”

Glenn lived a long, fulfilling life and made a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. While his time on this Earth has come to an end, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now rejoicing with his Lord and Savior.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 2PM at Danielsville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Black, Donald Poore, Blane Anglin, Zac Anglin, Brett Black, Cole Jett Black, Chet Cross, Darrell Odom, Chad Norton, Jay Pridgen, David Whitehead, Drew Whitworth, Zac Crane, and Jim Carpenter.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Masonic Children’s Home Operation Fund.
