Walter Eichholtz Jr.

Walter Eichholtz, Jr., of Comanche, TX answered the call of his Savior on October 4th, 2024 to join his heavenly Father. Walter was born on September 20, 1944 in San Antonio to Walter Eichholtz, Sr. and Maxine Whitten. He grew up in Torrance California and immediately enlisted in the Army upon graduating High School. In the Army, Walter was selected for Special Forces where he supported the 7th Special Forces Group and served in Vietnam. After serving his country with honor and distinction he discharged to pursue a career in Technical Instrumentation where he thrived for over 40 years supporting local electrical power generation facilities in the Brazos Valley area.
He had many hobbies over the years to include muscle cars and gunsmithing. His son Karl still remembers zipping around Houston in 1979 as a giggling four-year-old while his Dad shifted through the gears of his 1964 Pontiac GTO. Walt inherited a love for diagnosing and repairing firearms from his father Walter Sr. He spent the last four decades engrossed in learning the many skills required to develop and finish fine and antique firearms.
Walter met Carolyn Jane in College Station, TX in 2001 where they quickly found a true love for each other. Once they both retired they began looking for a place to settle down for retirement. They found the perfect spot in Comanche in 2011.
Walter was a devout member of the Board Church in Comanche where he leaves behind many loving friends. He had many friends at the church, his closest being Tony and Shari Evans and Rick and Judy Geye. Walt often commented how special these friends were to him. He would like to remind his Church family "I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow".
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Jane Eichholtz, his children Karl Eichholtz, Tommy Thoos, Jody Smith, Son-in-law Mike Smith, daughter-in-law Laura Eichholtz, grandchildren Jessie, Cherith, Janson, Grant, Elia, and his great grandchildren Eli and Emmitt.
Walter Eichholtz Jr. spent his whole life working to be the best husband, father, grandfather and friend he could be for those around him. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
