CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Walter "Bus" Frederic Evans, age 93, of Centerville, Indiana, died Monday, July 14, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
Born November 26, 1931, in Centerville, Indiana, to Estel and Irene Jurgens Evans, Bus was a life-long resident of Centerville. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Bus worked at Natco for 40 years, then at Natco Carlton for 5 years before retiring. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping, birdwatching, boating with his grandchildren, and traveling. Bus and his family took many trips over the years and made many memories together. He loved to party and dance and was an avid beer drinker. Bus was a member of VFW Post #0333 in Hagerstown.
Survivors include his children, Gary (Susan de la Vergne) Evans, Jolene Brown, Butch (Beth) Evans, and Collean (Dale) Henwood; grandchildren, Tina (Travis) Round, Jennifer (Nick) Clark, Timothy Brown, Lacole (Marcus) Fleagle, Catherine Evans, Brent (Courtney) Evans, Cody Henwood, Ryan Hohehausen, and Brooke (Jay) Bentlage; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Brayden, Taylor, Olivia, Braxton, Blakeley, Granger, Luke, Abby, Aiden, Layton, Carsen; sister, Barbara Collins; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Evans, on March 29, 2021, they were married on June 27, 1959; parents; grandson, Jakoby Fleagle; and siblings, Ruth Evans and Beverly Lehr (Branham).
Visitation for Walter "Bus" Fredric Evans will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2025, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Mills Funeral Home with Pastor David Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Bryan Cemetery.
