Walter James Evans Sr.

Walter James Evans Sr. passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025. He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Dailey and sister JoAnn Dailry. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Lynn Houston Evans. Their children, Walter James Evans, Jr., and Cassandra Evans-Weaver (William Anthony Weaver, Sr.). Two grandchildren, Whitney Alexandra Weaver Powell, (Travis B. Powell, I), and William Anthony Weaver, Jr., (Jasmine Garcia-Weaver). Three great-grandchildren, Payton Marie Powell, Paris Alexandra Powell and Travis B. Powell, II, and expectant parents William and Jasmine of twin girls in the next few weeks. He is also survived by his sister, Stepfion Chesney of Kingsport, (2) brothers, Joshua Dailey (Angela, Dailey), of Knoxville and Peter Alan Dailey, also of Kingsport. Devoted nieces and caregivers, Jacqueline Lyons, (John Lyons) of Chattanooga, and Joy Proffitt-Candage, (Philip Candage), Morristown. Niece, JoVita Wells, great nephew, Christopher Bradshaw, niece, Kristi Coleman, great-niece, Eden Acala, and Antonio Acala. There are a host of other remaining family and friends whom he loved dearly. Thanks to all of you for sharing in his life in whatever capacity you were able to contribute. Service will be held at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home, Inc., 117 E. 3rd South St. Morristown, TN on Monday, November 17, 2025. Visitation is from 12:00 noon-1:00 p.m. Service to follow from 1:00 pm-2:30 pm. Interment immediately following the service at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
