Charles Albert Evans

Charles Albert Evans, age 75, departed this life on Monday, December 29, 2025 at St. Peter's University Hospital in Brunswick, New Jersey. He was born in Bedford, Virginia on May 30, 1950. He was the son of the late Charlie Evans and Lucille Nellums-Evans-McGinnis and the stepson of Robert H. McGinnis. He attended Susie G. Gibson High School in Bedford, Virginia. He later graduated from St. Paul University in Lawrenceville, VA with a Bachelor of Science. After college, he worked and retired from AT&T where he worked in finance. He continued his studies after retirement by enrolling in the Elijah's Promise Culinary Arts in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Charles had a love of music and education. He played the cello and piano. He believed in occupying his mind with learning.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Otha MacArthur Nellums of White Plains, New York, James Nellums, Emmanuel Nellums, Robert Evans, all of Bedford, Virginia, and Ricky Evans of Martinsville, Virginia.

Those left to cherish his memory are: five sisters, Mary Evans, Barbara Evans, Carolyn Alexander, Blanche Kelso all of Bedford, Virginia, and Marilyn Johnson of Monroe, North Carolina; four brothers, Larry Evans of Selena Beach, California, Herman Evans, Carl Evans, Sr., Marvin McGinnis (Pamela) all of Bedford, Virginia, and many loving nieces, nephews and long-loving caring friends.
