Nathaniel Brown

Mr. Nathaniel Brown, 82 of Bedford, departed this life on Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born in Orangeburg, SC on September 22, 1943 to the late Silas Brown Sr. and Alpreshia G. Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cherrie M. Brown, daughter, Crystal Y. Carper, two brothers Charles Edward Brown and Willie Gene Brown, and one sister, Christine Brown Moorer.

Nathaniel was affectionately known as "Tank" and "Brown". He was a member of Gospel Fellowship Temple in Bedford, VA. Nathaniel retired from Gunnoe's Sausage after twenty plus years and Jefferson Forest High School after ten plus years of dedicated service.

His hobbies included watching football (a HUGE Washington Commanders fan), watching basketball, dancing, strong love for music, spending time with family, laughing, and having a good time. Absolutely loved his grandchildren and made sure to show up and support them in everything.

Nathaniel is survived by his granddaughter, Andrea (Ryesheem) Staten, grandson Devin Carper and great granddaughter, Kinsley Staten. Additionally, son, Michael Johnson, three brothers, Silas Brown Jr., Anthony Brown, and Larry (Queen) Brown. Brothers-in-law, Joseph (Geraldine) Spinner and Wallace Moorer, sister-in-law, Georgia P. Spinner, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
